AWOL & Paragon Design Group launch innovative 2KSTRONG campaign to change lives. (And you can help.)

No Comments Activism, Community Involvement, Groups & Clubs, Youth of America!

It’s official. We’re in the thick of the holiday season. The time from Thanksgiving to the New Year when we all get caught up in the merriment of long-standing traditions and fun celebrations. As businesses, we tend to turn our thoughts to the year past (and the piling deadlines due before the end of the year) and the annual greeting card to clients and colleagues.

Enter Paragon Design Group. Every year they seem to come up with yet another card that’s a genuine knee-slapper while also targeted and unforgettable. As the time approached to get their creative gears in motion for 2009, instead of focusing on their agency and its clients, they turned to a different focus – a nonprofit in serious need of funding.

All Walks of Life, Inc. better known at AWOL, is a 501(c)3 organization that helps at-risk youth discover a better life through structured programs during the hours when they are most vulnerable – after school and in the evenings. More specifically, their efforts focus on creative outlets from performing arts to technology-based programs – so of course, we love that. And so does Paragon. So when they found out that the annual budget for AWOL had been cut, they decided to turn a typically humorous creative project, into an all-out fundraising palooza.

UPlaya ‘Discovered’: Innovation Awards Winner gets love from The Discovery Channel

No Comments Innovation Awards, Local Bid-ness

Savannah’s own Music Intelligence Solutions was featured on The Discovery Channel’s website, just days after coming off a big win at the 2009 Innovation Awards. It would seem that the same innovative and technological prowess that enamored our judges also caught the eye of America’s most popular science/technology/history channel.

What’s the scoop?

In case you’ve been living under a rock, Music Intelligence Solutions, Inc. (uPlaya) took home the gold in the Small Business category for their interactive online services – including creative development, branding, social networking and discovery tools – for established and budding musicians and songwriters, producers, music supervisors, mobile distributors and anyone who has an affinity for music. One of only a host of resources for musicians, producers, songwriters and consumers, uPlaya.com uses proprietary and patent-protected technology to produce immediate, scientific market analysis and popularity ranking prediction of music worldwide.

“The songs that score the best include a certain amount of unpredictability in the music,” CEO David Meredith told Discovery News in the article. “Norah Jones is a great example of an artist who pulled from jazz and pop to create a sound that was different from other artists at the time, but the underlying patterns of her music was strong and the music scored very well.”
