Technology… ??A broad, sometimes awkward term, that now more than ever defines the actions of our days.

Keystroke.
Type.
Swipe.
Crash.
Develop.
Skype.
Friend.
Unfriend.
Follow.
Unfollow.

What does this all mean?

Have our days become completely defined by expressing a message in as few characters as possible?

Is our social network now truly defined by digital connections more so than physical.

Maybe, in part, but I would argue that technology is merely one piece of the puzzle, and that ignoring (neglecting) the physical is a mistake.

Human interactions are necessary… they are downright healthy.

Handshake.
Hug.
Kiss.
Bump.
Smack.
Kick.
Down dog.
Spit.
Eat.
Sleep.
Drink.
Share.

The key though is finding a balance. Right?

Email, texting, BBM, Skype, Twitter, Facebook, and other digital and web based tools have their merit.  It would be silly of me to think otherwise.  These are global movements, and in some respects they are brands that are as (more?) influential as Coca Cola, Disney, and NIKE.  They provide real results in both business and personal worlds.  I would never, and have never denied the power of these tools.  Heck, I use these tools every day.

What a week

?Oh wow.  What a week.

Just last Thursday morning I was returning to work from my post-Thanksgiving slumber.

I took a short vacation, seeking some much needed rest.

I returned to Savannah (re)energized.  Ready to tackle some serious to-do list items, and to prepare for this week that is now coming to a close.

On Wednesday, December 8th, we held our fourth board meeting, and among other things, we reviewed our financials and prepared for the difficult task of creating a diversified revenue generation model.

Our Wednesday morning meeting left me excited, and helped me rally through the night.

We hosted our Design Charrette on Wednesday night, and we were overwhelmed by the turnout.

We packed the house, and stuffed everyone into the Creative Coast HQ at 15 West York.

Board member Christian Sottile had prepared an amazing presentation that at one point compared the streets of Rome to the friendly confines of Savannah.

He encouraged attendees to think of our workspace as a public space, a place for intellectual and entrepreneurial enlightenment.

He energized the crowd, and, after dividing the room into teams, he encouraged them to develop team specific strategies for the space.

Hello good people.

On December 8th and 9th our doors will be wide open.

Creative Coast board member Christian Sottile and Friend of the Coast Patrick Phelps will be leading the Creative Coast community in a powerful Design Charrette.

Find the event on Facebook

Earlier this year we asked you, our fellow Creative Coasters, to complete a survey.
We asked anyone who was interested to help us transform this incredible organization.

Well, we listened.

We have stopped the mission drifting, we are re-focused, we are self-governed, and for sure we are as motivated as ever to rock.

We have our own little home now too.  And yes, it is on the south side of the river.

Our doors are always open, but they will be overwhelmingly open on December 8th and 9th.

So mark your calendars.

Jam Session!

?Eight months ago, three young entrepreneurs quit their jobs, jumped in a car and drove across the country for 43 days to do one thing: to connect Gen Y innovators to one person with whom they can collaborate.  These 3 entrepreneurs went on to launch GenJuice, a company that creates content, events and products to help emerging influencers lead the next generation.

On Tuesday, November 23, DC3 Media Enterprises partners up with ThincSavannah to host the first ‘GenJuice Quit & Create Challenge Jam Session’ in Savannah, GA.

The Jam Session is about one thing: connecting Gen Y innovators with each other.

You can attend the event for free, all you have to do is go here to register: ??http://www.meetup.com/GenJuice-Jam-Sessions/31651/.

Caleb Parker, co-founder of DC3 Media Enterprises is the organizer of the Savannah Jam Session, and when I spoke with him earlier this week, he had this to say:

“Entrepreneurship is the economic driver of the economy and the next generation has already begun embracing it.  Gen Y will create the jobs of the future.  Savannah has a great atmosphere for young entrepreneurs to create businesses out of their dreams and passions.  It is my hope that after next week’s Jam Session at least two young entrepreneurs will connect and collaborate in ways that benefit each other.”
