Is it just me (us) or do cool designy things keep coming to Savannah?  I mean, IT’S OUT OF CONTROL UP IN THIS PIECE.

The Design Revolution Road Show – a traveling exhibition and lecture series bringing “product design that empowers” to 25 high schools and university design programs across the nation in the Spring of 2010 – is coming to lil’ big ole’ Savannah on February 27th.

The exhibition has generated mucho press across the country, from The New York Times to GOOD Magazine and nothing if not buzzworthy.

A Project H Design initiative, the road show will feature a biodiesel-powered truck and Airstream trailer exhibition of 40 humanitarian design solutions that have been showcased in the book Design Revolution: 100 Products that Empower People.

The programming will bring the evidence of and tools for design for social impact to the doorsteps of students, with the ultimate goal of enabling and empowering the next generation of creative problem-solvers to apply their skills to the world’s most pressing problems and improve life on a global scale.

More on this later.  We’ve still got awhile to go before February 27th is upon us. In the meantime, mark your calendars.

[FUN ALERT] Pulse: Art and Technology Festival Explodes on the Scene: NEXT WEEK

1 Comment Community Involvement, Creative, Entertainment, Events & Happenings

Brace yourself for 2 weeks of pure, unadulterated geeky delicious family FUN.

Starting next Wednesday, the Telfair Museum of Art will begin its second Pulse: Art and Technology Festival at the museum’s Jepson Center from January 20-31. An all-ages experience, the festival includes a mind-expanding array of programs exploring the expressive potential of technologies, both old and new. It features national and regional artists and performers who use new media, as well as those who find creative ways to repurpose older technologies.

This year’s Pulse Festival explores the intersection of art and technology, with diverse offerings ranging from installations and game design to wearable art and musical robots (who doesn’t like robots?). Whether you are a technology geek, contemporary art or music fan, backyard tinkerer, or just a curious onlooker, the Pulse Festival has something for you.

The Festival begins on January 20 with an installation of interactive sculpture by contemporary artist Shih Chieh Huang entitled Counterillumination (C-2010), which will be on view in the Jepson Center’s Lewis Gallery through April 4, 2010.

3 Comments Entrepreneurs, Extra, extra! (press), Global, Music

Nice.

Looks like Savannah’s Music Intelligence Solutions (uPlaya.com) CEO David Meredith has scored a blogging spot on the Huffington Post (the #1 blog in the world.)  In his debut post titled, “Susan Boyle’s ‘Dream’ Provides a Wake up Call to the Music Industry,” Meredith talks about how Susan Boyle’s meteoric rise to fame provides clues on how to revitalize the business of Music.

Hopefully we’ll see more from M.I.S. and David on the Huffington Post, but for now we just wanted to say, “AWESOME!”  These guys keep popping up all over the globe, and we’re thrilled to see this 2009 Innovation Award winner kicking a$$ and taking names (all while carrying the Savannah flag).
