The Innovation Awards, like Christmas, comes just once a year.  And how exciting that the big event is tonight!  For those of you who have reserved your seats, I will see you at the Historic Roundhouse!

Just wanted to remind you of several important things to keep in mind:

  • Don’t make us say “I told you so” when your hot heels fall flat at the Historic Roundhouse.  Please, please (down on my knees begging you) wear sensible shoes.
  • VIP parking for hybirds and carpoolers is limited to the first 75 vehicles.  So come early and come together.  Overflow parking is located at the Visitors Center next door.
  • Rain?  Cold weather?  C’mon, you knew we’d be prepared for that!  Don’t let the evening’s forecast dissuade you from attending tonight’s ceremony.  We’ve thought of it all… including heat and cover.  But feel free to throw a light sweater over your shoulder if you’re worried.

Thanks in advance to all of you beautiful guests!  And many, many thanks to our sponsors (especially Lott + Barber!) for making this great event possible.

A Most Grand Call to Action: Reserve your seats & sponsorship for Fête d’Innovation

1 Comment Community Involvement, Creative, Entertainment, Events & Happenings, Food & Drink, Green, TCCa Stuff

Alright guys, the curtains have parted, seats are now on sale for our First Annual Innovation Awards. (And, for those-in-need of a swanky PR opportunity, sponsorship tables are also now available. More on that soon.)

The soiree will honor creative joie de vivre on Friday, October 24th at the Historic Roundhouse and is sure to be unlike any local event past, extoling a distinctly out- of-the-box attitude and drawing close to 500 of Savannah’s most innovative minds – a veritable ‘who’s who’ of creatives and techies, spanning across business, non-profit, government, technology and education sectors.

Underpinning the essence of innovative approach, this year’s theme is ‘sustainability’ (I’m obviously thrilled), and TCCa is working to achieve the most environmentally responsible awards event possible.

The evening’s festivities will feature cuisine from Cha Bella’s Earth to Table – known for their fresh, local and organic fare.  The mid-evening awards program will highlight the most pioneering personages of Savannah’s Creative Coast.  Chalked full of elegance, creativity, eco-mindedness, awards and surprises, this is one event you simply cannot miss – so be sure to reserve your seats in advance.

Saturday’s Child Works Hard for a Living – Not this Saturday!

This Saturday I can safely say I won’t be working hard.  Nope, I deserve a day off.  My other half is co-hosting a reunion of high school buddies in town this weekend.  Some 22 bromancers and their harem of Stepford wives have descended upon fair, unexpecting Savannah.  Like any woman afraid to show her house or herself the way it really is (shudder), I have been cleaning, weeding, cooking and primping for the occasion.  And man is my house spitspot.

So, no, I won’t be Saturday’s child tomorrow.  And Lord knows I won’t be tailgating with the varsity visitors.  So, what to do?!  I’m in luck, and so are you, because this September 13th is a buffet of fests, markets, shows and bazaars.  Savannah morphs into a Moroccan old city souk for one day and one day only, tomorrow!

First on the agenda: GreenFest (represent)
My proclivity for enviro- merriment assures my attendance at the second annual Savannah GreenFest.  Located this year at the warehouses at Trustees Garden (88 Randolph Street), GreenFest will work to connect folks and encourage them to take action through a focus on environmental education, personal health, service projects and support of local artisans and musicians.

Whoa trip-py: the Flashback Experience takes me back in time

2 Comments Entertainment, Entrepreneurs, Events & Happenings, Music

For a minute there I thought it had all been a dream.  I woke up cloudy-headed on Friday morning wondering if I had really witnessed the re-embodiment of the Doors and Led Zeppelin, watched a convincing Janis Joplin performance by a long-haired woman with hippie garb and kicka$$ boots, and danced among an auditorium crowd of baby boomers who hadn’t moved like that in twenty years.

Despite the dreamy, fog machine-haze of the night before, it was, in fact, real.  It was Flashback – the Classic Rock Experience.

Now, allow me to confess that I didn’t know what I was getting into.  At 5 pm on Thursday, Fitz informed me that I had VIP concert tickets to Flashback at the Savannah Civic Center later that evening.  Not one to turn down a free music event – even on my four year anniversary (!) – I quizzically prepared for my evening assignment.  But what was Flashback?  What do you wear to a concert event throwback to the 60s and 70s?
