Calling all innovators! Yes, it’s that time again (for the first time).

TCCa is now accepting applications (and nominations) for its first annual Innovation Awards, to take place October 23 at Savannah Station.

Four-hundred of Savannah’s coolest, most innovative business, technology and creative community leaders thrown together in a room full of food, drink, celebration, recognition and shiny lights. How fun is that!?!?

Building off the great tradition of the 5-year running cBETA awards, this year’s Innovation Awards will bring the innovative heat and the quirky, cool flair of TCCa.  The ceremony will honor regional business, education and community organizations that demonstrate innovation and outstanding achievement in education, business, community, government and sustainability.  Applications are being accepted in the following six categories until the July 31st deadline.

  • Innovative Achievement in Education
This category is open to all educational establishments along the Creative Coast – public or private, K-12 or colleges/universities – that boast a creative or innovative development, program or application of technology that has a positive impact on the educational experience.  We’ve said it before: children are the future.  Let’s see what the creative leaders of tomorrow are learning today.
  • Innovative Achievement in Government
Where would Savannah be without the support of government for our creative economy?!  Fittingly, the Achievement in Government award will recognize a governmental entity for a creative or innovative development, program or application of technology that improves operations or the delivery of civic services within the Coastal Community.  Just our way of recognizing government’s vital role in our collective, creative endeavors.
  • Innovative Achievement by an Emerging Company
We kiss babies too. This award recognizes an emerging company (less than 5 years) for a creative or innovative development, program or application of technology related to their business. We’ll be looking at the new company’s ability to manage barriers and challenges that typically face a young business, and on how well they adapt their business, products or services to meet market challenges.
  • Innovative Achievement by a Mature Company
An oldie and a goodie, the Achievement by a Mature Company award will recognize an emerging company (more than 5 years) for a creative or innovative development, program or application of technology related to their business. Creativity, innovation or technical prowess (nice word, huh?) in the delivery of products or services, as well as on the leadership role of management will be major elements of the judging process.
  • Innovative Community Contribution Award
This award reaches out to recognize those few, proud organizations or groups of individuals who have made a significant community contribution that enhances the expansion of a higher-wage, knowledge-driven economy within the Coastal Community.  If you or someone you know has gone beyond the call of duty to make our community cool and creative, send up your application!
  • Innovative Achievement in Sustainability
My personal favorite, the Achievement in Sustainability interweaves our creative economy with or environmental future by celebrating an entity that has demonstrated environmental leadership through the use or creation of innovative products, business or legislative practices to help make our Creative Coast a more sustainable community.  Go green!

So, what are you waiting for! Apply or nominate someone today!
